Above are just some of the ribbons and trophies that our children have won with their goats since 1997. Our children have gained knowledge and experience in raising their 4-H projects and even though they are no longer in 4-H we hope they will continue to thrive and learn as they enter college and start their journey into adulthood. If your child is interested in raising goats as a 4-H project we hope you encourage them to do so. The entire family can gain knowledge and a new way of life by raising registered Boer goats. OVF now has kids to offer as well as mature does. Below are Tips when purchasing a Boer Goat.

Make sure the Breeder you are purchasing your goats from is knowledgeable and select a breeder who cares about the goats, and is dedicated to improving the Boer breed. Any Good Breeder should want to improve the Boer Meat Breed even if he/she is a Commercial Breeder. Always Remember, Better Goats equals more Profit. But Better Goats doesnt necessarily mean the word Expensive

After you study your breed standard, focus on structure, and balance and meat and muscling of the animals. Always Remember, FAT isnt Meat or Muscle. Over feeding can harm your goats.

A FAT doe can have kidding problems. So for the good of the goat and for the good of the Boer industry, Please keep them in Good condition but not in OVER Condition.

Dont Be afraid to ask Your Breeder for about the health of their herd. Start your herd out Healthy . Starting with a healthy goat will save you $ in Vet Cost.
